As I write this I’m surrounded by crumby built in furniture and unpacked boxes: location of CD’s, headphones, books and records is mostly “unknown”. They’re here, somewhere, they must be, given that the old house is empty and home only to dust mites and spiders. I’ve only really come online today to tell you about a gig that’s taking place in a few weeks.
Steve Lamacq’s Going Deaf For A Living presents headliners Goldheart Assembly with Tom Williams & The Boat on Thursday September 16th at The Bull & Gate. Tickets are £8/£7 advance (from wegottickets).
Goldheart Assembly deliver and energetic set and were personal highlights for me at both Glastonbury and Reading this summer. If you imagine something like Fleet Foxes harmonies mixed with Beach Boys melodies you wouldn’t be far off. The highlight of their album, Wolves and Theives, is Engravers Daughter.
Tom Williams and the boat have had a busy summer too. They played everyday at Glastonbury Festival, were hand picked to play at Latitude and found time to record a stunning new five track EP (scheduled for an October release). They’ve recorded a full band version of this song, Kick The Cat, which features a chilling lap steel that will make your hairs stand on end.
