Being a country singer in Nashville is surely like being an overdressed scene kid in Shoreditch. I would imagine it’s not easy breaking out of Tennessee but Caitlin Rose has and her debut EP, Dead Flowers, is out in the UK on Feb 15th.
My lack of knowledge (see below) when it comes to country music is born from ignorance largely and I really wasn’t sure what to make of this EP when I first listened to it. Suffice to say, I listened once then shelved it. Today I decided to give it another go and I’m pleasantly surprised with how much I like it.
Caitlin is blessed with a naturally precocious voice that, combined with her talent for impulsive songwriting, becomes anooyingly compulsive. So far this morning I’ve listened to this EP three times.
The standout tracks are Shotgun Wedding, Dead Flowers (a Rolling Stones cover) and Docket and the bottom line is I thoroughly recommend you buy this EP.
