Apologies for the lack of posts. The other things we do had to take centre stage for a few weeks. We were still out and about doing things but literally had no time to write about them.

We were lucky to get in to Pitch Black Presents: Friendly Fires – a gig in a converted warehouse off Borough High Street. Sony Ericsson’s concept with “Pitch Black Presents” is to black out a room, find 200 competition winners and have a band play to them in complete darkness. I have to say it was the most extraordinary gig I’ve been to. There is a band playing just meters in front, nothing distracts you, you form a total connection with their music feeling every bass note as it rushes past you. The band are eventually lit up with UV lights. While this is a one off, Pocket TV show (another Sony Ericsson music project) is five weeks into its 13 week run.
Some numpty called this the “corporate takeover” but this show is actually worth a watch. Basically, presenter Matt Edmondson candidly interviews the music makers that are kicking around at the moment. Get to youtube.com/pockettvshow now and watch some of the videos.
We’ve also been listening to new albums by Florence and The Machine and La Roux as well as some Jamie T/Electric Proms stuff from 3 years ago. Speaking of Jamie T, we saw him and Slow Club at Electric Ballroom last week. I’m sure Jade is itching to write about that.
Check out this great live version of Calm Down Dearest:
