Is Myspace Still A Good Source For Finding New Bands?

Proof that Myspace does still work despite the influx of what can only be described as pure shite. This year Myspace has helped discover a handful of bands/artists of which have really impressed me. Myspace use to be a great way of discovering new music but it seems that anyone who can strum a few chords on their £19.56 argos guitar has a Myspace band page these days so youve either got to be lucky or incredibly patient whilst surfing through the crap.
So these are the few bands/artists from Myspace who have wowed me in 2008:
Klaus Says Buy The Record
Klaus Says Buy The Record is just one guy, Jon Mills. I first heard his stuff from the Wire Boat Recordings Compilation and since then went on to be one of the finalists for this years Orange Unsigned Act.
He has a brand new EP Into The Wood due out Feb 09 accompanied by a few gigs to kick start it.
Klaus is also set to play live on C4 for the chance of being voted back onto Orange Unsigned Act on Jan 11th 09 which is intirely down to the public to vote him back in. SO GET VOTING!

Jose Vanders
Jose had a summer tour this year with Klaus Says Buy The Record hitting some cosy venues in all the big cities around the UK.
Jose is the face of BBC3 which means she introduces programmes and all that funky jazz:
Her sound was also snapped up by Perez Hilton who described her as “the most exciting thing to happen to British music since Amy Winehouseâ€.
She has a couple of EPs available from www.josevanders.com as well as some pretty cool t-shirts and snazzy stuff you can buy with your pocket money.

Thom Stone
He entered himself into this years Orange Unsigned Act but didnt make it through to the show.
Thom has a really lovely EP out called Harmony On A Jetplane which is worth checking out and has collaborated on a b-side with the brilliant Laura Marling.
