Kings Of Leon – Only By The Night

The Kings are great rockers, they’re great at being loud; Charmer, Sex On Fire & On Call are exceptional examples. However Only By The Night fails to deliver this, the rocking is almost non existant. Aside from their latest single Sex On Fire there is nothing that grabs me.
On first listen, my reaction was “shit”, I felt almost let down after their previous album Because Of The Times blew me away. But do not let your first impression be the one that sticks. Only By The Night is an album that requires intent listening, the atmosphere it provides is spaced but tracks like Cold Dessert & Closer make you realise how amazing this album really can be and how far K.O.L have progressed.
Sex On Fire is an escape from the albums spatial atmosphere. It almost deserves to have its place on the third album Because Of The Times alongside songs Charmer & Fans.
OBTN will definately knock a few fans back who prefer the rockier side to K.O.L but will also show them just what their capable of.

i love this album! then again i did love kings of leon before this album too.. but this is just a great combination i think.

I was a big fan of the fist two albums but was pretty disappointed by their third effort. It looks as though this album might be their best yet though.
